What is AI-Powered Vending?

AI-Powered Vending is, undoubtedly, the next generation of vending. From the client’s perspective, it is much simpler and less risky than traditional vending. As you approach the machine, you will recognize it as just a cooler, like at the gas station; however, it has a Point-of-Sale system. You scan your card or phone, the door unlocks, and you reach in to grab whatever your stomach and heart desire. Cameras watch; using machine vision and AI, they identify what you grab and charge you accordingly.

What happens if they don’t identify the items? Do they charge you a million dollars?
Absolutely not. They send a short video clip, recorded from when you scan your card to when the door is closed, and the vending operator charges you accordingly.

The cooler setup allows for endless combinations of products without having to mess with coils or worry about items getting stuck. Speaking of coils, motors, and trays, etc., there are a lot fewer moving parts for the operator to have to worry about breaking.

From the operator’s perspective, the ease of setup and lack of moving parts is a huge bonus. They also come with integrated inventory management; this system still needs work, but the bones are there.

However, these machines are much more expensive to operate; you’ll be faced with the usual 6% transaction fee, + $0,05 per item identified by the AI, and a $40+ monthly software fee.
